MEDIA BED LIFE AND REGENERATION ECONOMICS

MEDIA BED LIFE CAN BE PREDICTED
USING THE FOLLOWING FORMULA:

C:  Concentration of hydrogen sulfide in parts per million (ppm)

F:   Flow of digester gas in average cubic feet per day (cfd)

I:    Iron Sponge media in cubic feet

R:  Reactive capacity of one cubic foot of Iron Sponge media containing 6.8 kilograms of iron oxide which will react with 3.75 kilograms of hydrogen sullfide

W:   Weight of hydrogen sulfide = 43.6 x 10-9

%:   80% Bed use before breakthrough

EXAMPLE:
C = 300 ppm
F = 288,000 cfd
I = 400 cubic feet
R = 3.75 kg hydrogen sulfide
W = 43.6 x 10-9
% = 80

REGENERATION ECONOMICS
Typically operators replace the media after the third bed life. Sulfide buildup on the iron oxide inhibits efficient reaction with hydrogen sulfide. Marcab Regeneration, however, has more than doubled the effective media bed life, safely reducing your operating costs.

Specify a Marcab Company, Inc. Anaerobic Digester Gas Purifier to eliminate hydrogen sulfide in your digester gas stream.
